What happened?

Hephaestus's Creation

  •   Hephaestus, god of metalworking and artisans, provided him with a set of powerful earplugs, ones that would fit easily into his ears. They would block out every noise except for one: they’d amplify the sound of the one who held another device he’d made. It was a small device that could be held or stashed easily within a toga, which would carry the sound of one’s voice directly to the earplugs.

  • Hermes brought the device with him on his visit to Mount Cyllene, presenting it to Loquarion. He thanked him for all of Loquarion’s useless and charming blathering, telling him how it helped him to get his daily work done. He explained that the device given to him would help him to hear his voice better, and help him to continue to have access to all of the ramblings he shared.

  • Loquarion gladly accepted his device, attaching it to his toga by his neck while he worked in the temple, or holding it near his mouth while he rested. Hermes put the earplugs in and kept them in day and night, happy that he got to continue to go about his work listening to the unceasing monologues that helped him to be productive and entertained all at once.
